How To Lose Weight

CREATE A CALORIE DEFICIT
In order to lose weight, you must create a calorie deficit. It is easier and healthier to cut back your calorie intake a little bit at a time. Every 3,500 calories is equivalent to one pound.

LOSE AT A HEALTHY RATE
A healthy weight loss goal is to lose 0.5 to 2 pound per week. Losing more than 2 pounds per week will mean the weight is less likely to stay off permanently. Never cut back to fewer than 1,200 daily calories without medical supervision.

MAKE THE CUT
With careful review, you will find ways to cut back those 250 calories a day: the milk in your cereal....the can of soda you drink daily... the butter on your toast. Making little changes like these will really add up in the long run.

BURN IT OFF
Becoming more active will knock the remaining 250 calories out. For example, a 180 pound person who walks at a brisk 3 mph will burn just over 250 calries in 45 minutes. Experts agree that it's easier to exercise than to cut the same number of calories that exercise shaves off. In other words, it's just plain easier to be a little more active than to do without more food to achieve the same calorie reduction.

One Day Diet Suggestion

This is a tough but realistic way to actually count calories, eat somewhat balanced meals, and be full on only 1600 calories... The idea of eating the same meal 3 times in a day sucks, but if you switch up the food (substitute fish, sweet potatos, mushrooms, etc) it might be doable. I like this format, because I can prepare all the food at once, and I can just run into the kitchen on poker breaks to heat up a plate. I think if we could actually stick to a diet like this (no chocolate, soda, pizza, cookies, etc) all week, and relax on the weekends, we could do work... What do you think?!

In my opinion, even without this physically-fit challenge, we are among the best "mechanics" anywhere. With that said, I am very curious to see just how much greater we can be now that we are taking proper care of our tools. I believe it is a 'sky is the limit' scenario.

Time will tell.

Sheek circa September, 2010

I am splurging a bit today for lunch

I feel that I have really devoted myself to the first 24 hours of this challenge. With that in mind, I am really splurging this afternoon. As you can see in the picture below, I will be having an entire can of Bumble Bee Solid White Albacore and a Super-Sized glass of water. Do not worry, though, this afternoon I plan on running 5 miles in this mild 102 degree heat to counter my fatty lunch intake.-Big Brian

Step 1

Tonight I had golf league. Following an exhausting golf round of 9 holes, where I took 37 strokes, we were provided with dinner. On the menu tonight were delicious smelling sausage and pepper sandwiches. A week ago, I would have devoured 2 sandwiches inside of 15 minutes. Not tonight.....

Because I am devoted to this cause, I approached things differently this evening. I delicately removed the sausage and pepper contents from the bread ate them on their own. I passed on a delicious italian roll(seen above) and removed myself from the restaurant before temptation got the best of me.

I admit that I had thoughts like "its just a piece of bread" or "i will start my diet tomorrow" but each time i glanced at the overlap of stomach over the golf belt as inspiration to refrain from eating more. Life is good. Go lean or go home.

Bodybuilder Diet

I came accross this bodybuilder diet during one of my patented late night 'be less fat' internet searches...while chomping on some fritos! lol

Being fat is not only a physical condition. It is a way of life. It filters down into every aspect of your day to day activities and slowly defines who you are. Millions of Americans wake up everyday to the thought of how disgustingly fat they are. However, most do nothing about it.

Lucky for us, each generation is blessed with a few brave souls willing to stand up, against the odds, to make things better for all of mankind. We call these men trend setters. Brian Sheekey, Joshua Flamm, and Logan Richetti are 3 such men. On June 16, 2010 they will set out on a mission to take their fat laden bodies, filled with booze and greasy foods, and transform them into Adonis-like structures for the rest of the world to emulate.
